Charles played Murmagan in a Rehearsed Reading of Lazyeye at The Arts Theatre West End.
He played Yvan in Art at Vienna's English Theatre.
He played Douglas Smith in Horne A Plenty at the White Bear Theatre and also played the BBC Announcer in the classic 60's comedy The Men from the Ministry.
In 2016, he played UK Supermarket Manager Tony Manning in Happy to Help at the Park Theatre
and the Professor in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe at Birmingham Rep.
He played Macduff in Macbeth and Claudius/Ghost in in Hamlet in two American tours.
He played the prosecutor, Mr Myers QC, in Witness for the Prosecution at Vienna's English Theatre,
where he has also played Sydney Webb in Engaging Shaw.
He played Douglas Smith in a No 1 tour of Stop Messing About. He previously played the role at The Rose Theatre Kingston and in the West End at The Leicester Square Theatre. He also played Douglas Smith in the long running West End hit Round The Horne Revisited. He went on a No 1 tour of the show and took part in the Royal Variety Performance.
He has worked for the RSC
and National Theatre and has played a wide range of roles
in Repertory Theatre for Harrogate, Salisbury, Northampton, Exeter and
Liverpool. He was in the 1940’s Musical Bless The Bride
at The King’s Head, Islington, in two Restoration Comedies at The
New End, Hampstead and Bernard Shaw’s How He Lied To
Her Husband at The Orange Tree, Richmond. He has been on
Number 1 Tours of Rebecca, Hayfever and Othello,
toured Germany in Twelfth Night and worked for
The English Theatre of Sweden. He has also played a lead role in
French at The Institut Francais.
